We considered an ear infection, but that was ruled out. It appeared to be idiopathic vestibular syndrome – w/out the nystagmis (sp?), but she also appeared to be having small seizures (Vs. a stroke) during each episode. The vets were all stumped, although giving her meclizine at the very first sign of an episode helped w/ her balance/nausea to a degree. As we were just about to decide on a CAT scan (not available in the area – at least back then), no more episodes showed up. So, it never did get solved as to the reason, although it appears to have resolved itself – no episodes in the last 6 years. Good luck w/ your cat – either that the mystery gets solved, or that the problem just ups & leaves on its own. Cathy — "Decades gliding by like Indians, time is cheap." Paul Simon ("Ren
